“Amy” was the name of my first dog. She was a Cocker Spaniel crossed with what we believe to be a Labrador. She was the sweetest cuddliest smartest little speed ball, a complete banana. She was the perfect companion for this moody teenager.
In 2010, I was working a mundane job that was taking me nowhere. After an epiphany in Cambodia, I decided to give it up, buy a mobile dog grooming franchise, take a short course and become a groomer. Within a year I was comfortable and happy in my new lifestyle. Over the following years I carried on training with a variety of breeders and grooming schools, honing in my grooming skills, to ensure I could set an exceptional standard.
I saw a need in the industry and felt I could offer so much more. By late 2014, Dolcey Grooming was founded, I decided to take my service to a whole new level. I designed a beautiful and extremely functional air conditioned mobile salon grooming van, that took up less car space, was easy to clean and ideally ergonomic for both dog and groomer.
The development didn’t stop there, by 2015, I undertook further courses with the National Dog Training Federation to give myself a better understanding of dog Psychology and further help my Airedale “Dolcey” overcome her fear issues. I picked up so much more than I expected from this course, allowing me to view dogs from a fresh prospective and understand how best to help them. This has allowed me to make a stronger connection with Dolcey, and our clients dogs, than Id ever thought possible.
